    Hi all,

Just wondering if people use it and in what way they use it?

There are a couple of things I noticed:
    - Calling mobiles using Skype on wifi is 18c per minute
    - You can set your caller id to your mobile number

Might be useful if mobile reception is poor (which it is in my house) or if your minutes run out (18c versus 25c per minute).

    Keith

I've used it a few times, works perfectly, a funny number comes up on person you are callings phone, don't think you can set up a caller id number fro yourself (I'm open to correction if you can)

If you are currently paying 25c p/m it makes sense to uses it from within a wifi zone, sound quality a couple of weeks ago from San Francisco to mobile in Ireland was better than mobile to mobile.

If any of your mates have iphones with Skype call them tell them to log into the app and call them back for free a minute later!!

I use Skype on my i-phone, it works very well and is much clearer than using it through the computer

I use Skype at home or elsewhere on wifi and it works fine. But when I try to use it in the park, say, I get a message saying it can't be used because of legal restrictions on the use of broadband, or some nonsense like this.

I'm an O2 customer using a billpay iPhone account.

Is there any way around this? Currently, I just use Truphone if I'm calling abroad when I'm away from a wifi network, but it would be good to be able to use Skype-to-Skype sometimes, or even Skype-to-foreign-mobile.

This is an old thread but nonetheless.....if you want to use skype over 3G you have to have a jailbroken iphone (google "iclarified iphone jailbreak" for a tutorial if you are unsure about what this means.)

After you have jailbroken your iphone, install a small app called voipover3G, which is available from Cydia (again, google is your friend here).

You should be able to then use any voip app over 3G (skype, Siphon, truphone etc). You can also then use 3G to operate app that has been limited by apple to only work over wifi.

i have been using this regularly. friend of mine is travelling the world and we have been skyping every few weeks. Locations range from China, Austrlia and the US. He is using Skype on his PSP and i'm on the iphone and it works great.

I have a jailbroken iphone and using it over 3G is just as good as with WIFI. also we chatted for over an hour some days and i think the 3G usage was about 30MB's.
