    Hi All,

Im about to order some parts (downpipe, induction ket, inlet hose and engine mounts) from America. Has anybody got any tips for me?

The total cost is $1454, I dont have a credit card and was wanting to use paypal, is this ok?

Has anybody ordered parts from America and got stung for import tax?

Any advice or previous experiences people would be good to hear! thanks!

Like i said in that other topic the only thing i ever got stung to pay tax on was the most expensive thing i ever got, that was my brakes - however even with the tax it still worked out cheaper than European retailers.

If you have any family in the states get it shipped to them and get them to re box them, and brand them as gifts, possibly break up the package and post in more boxes.

i ordered parts from the us to the tune of 1800 dollars.....I got shafted with vat and tax to over 450 euro.

When it comes in by fedex , they send the bill of sale to customs and they can raise it on top of what fedex etc reckon it'll be.

if you get the supplier to devalue the invoice you wont have to pay as much duty or i know somone who ordered parts from U.S and got them marked as a gift with value of $15 dollars and didnt pay any duty on them.

A lot of the big carriers will hit you,it can be very hit and miss alot are instructed by the seller to collect the TAX.My brakes were shipped via UPs and i got hit but a few weeks later i got other parts via UPs and wasn't hit.

I've asked for this to be done on small things in the past,i got a Head unit valued at $39,with parts costing over a grand though i wouldn't risk it as the shipping insurance will only cover you for the value of the package.
