    W00t.

10 pm on BBC 2 a new series written by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. Psychoville is a 7 part murder comedy thriller which by the looks of it will stay true to the tone/texture of League. It follows Kröd Mändoon and The Flaming Sword of Fire 9 pm and That Mitchell and Webb Look 9.30 pm.

    Another thing to Sky+.

    I miss 'The League..'! :(

Mr Jelly was great (but I think Reece Shearsmith is fantastic no matter what character he does)..

    "You're still a children's entertainer, aren't you?"
    "No, I'm Dr Harold Shipman. Course I'm a f*cking children's entertainer!"

The rest not so much. Dawn French was.. woeful as usual!

    I loved it. :)

I enjoyed it but it was definitely Mr. Jelly who stood out. He tells great princess stories doesn't he?

Not too sold on Dawn French's character - maybe French isn't suited to this?

Obsessive killer dry-skin son.. Yeah he's good too. In keeping with LoG, especially the incest angle.

Kinetic munchkin - Not sure yet. He seems a bit too clean (yeah, even taking into account the dwarf porn). Hoping for a bit more here.

Creepy blind man - Liked. Nice touches was him having stock market reports read out - just that right bit off kilter. Loved the reveal of what was in the room!

You can watch episode 2 if you pressed the red button on Sky after the first episode ended.

I only remembered a moment ago.. but it's half way through the episode! :(

    It's not like multi-start unfortunately.

Nice. I just got around to watching Funland the other day. Not quite sure what to make of it yet.

I watched the first two episodes and thought it was excellent. Mr Jelly is brilliant, the mother and son are creepy as hell
apart from the bizarre incest, the bit where they are reading books on serial killers trying to decide how to kill a guy while he's tied up beside them was funny but really, really horribly f*cked up. :D

I kind of like Dawn French in it. With her characters "quirk", they can't really show her doing much as it would just get incredibly repetative (even what we say was fairly repetative), so her character might get better as the series goes on.

The whole thing had a great Stephen King feel to it. If anyone has seen Rose Red, it really reminded me of that, for some reason. I can't wait for the next episode.

It must be no fun being a professional clowns character childrens entertainer Everytime you switch on the box you are portrayed as a malevolent threat.

I'm not sure who said it, but there's no way you can spend your days being laughed at and remain sane! Clowns are inherently evil.

Great black comedy almost league of gentlemen resurrected, glad they kept it off bbc1, always rings warning bells when comedy is on bbc1, usually crap, take new reggie perrin as an example.

Anyone watch the second episode? Liked it - especially the frantic bidding war for a teddy.
Dawn French's character wasn't in it much but the serial killing mother and son were good and of course we had the wonderful Mr. Jelly (check out his site and his rival Mr. Jolly's site - not much there admittedly).
Still not totally gone on the psychic dwarf but we're finally seeing a link to all these characters.

Yep I'm sticking with it, lots of good details and atmosphere.

Not as good tonight, the opening was nicely done, the sausage scene I don't want to think about.

I thought it was excellent last night. Skipping over the sausage scene,
the mother and son murdering the "witness" was a little over the top,
but it was still pretty funny. Dawn French's "baby" staring at the Dad after the freaky (I always hated dolls because they all look f*cking evil to me!). The Mr Jolly/Mr Jelly revelation was a brilliant twist and was hilariously done (especially the chase scene). Not much happening with the Dwarf, and the blindman was pretty much just the same as last weeks.

But I'm loving the show as a whole. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

I loved last nights episode. It is all starting to fit nicely together now with the mental hospital revelation. I found the last bit where Dawn French's character was looking at the video very creepy. I will never look at that song (from Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcot) in the same way again :D

    Quality Street!

and kiddies do you know which Hitchcock film they were paying homage to (ripping off)?

Rope, I read that in the paper ha ha. Nice to see one of the other gentlemen make a guest appearance even if he didn't get to finish his hobnob. Great episode, Pinteresque...

I got the 'Rope' homage (good movie) but I'm not sure I liked one whole episode of the four remaining focusing on one set of characters. I think we could have done with a bit more diversity. Still it kept my attention which is saying something (did the camera break at any point? Was it one take?).

I was a great episodes. Absolutely hilarious at times. I think it was done in one or two takes. There's a bit where they're getting the body out of the chest where it looks like it's a new shot, but I'm not sure if they did that simply because they did something similar in Rope.

I loved the "cut the hobnob in half" bit and the way they all froze before it. "No I'll be naughty and eat a full one!"
David is a horrible looking sod. The friar tuck head on him!

Hilarious, the bit where the mother and son are dancing to the cheering up tape was an absolute classic. Still laughing about it.

Scares and a musical number within the same scene.

Freddie had me freaked out there, only to discover
twas all a put up job

Great scene with Mr Jelly and Mr Jolly at the roadside.

I don't know either - were they screwing with us? I really enjoyed the episode with great moments such as the civil servant who wouldn't handle the murders because it was across council lines :)

Overall it was a very enjoyable show and I'd love there to be a second season although I'm not sure how good the ratings were.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

I was sure that the Sky Guide made a mistake by saying this was the last episode. It's an odd way to end a series. Hopefully there'll be a second. The ratings may not be great, but they might get a second series based on the talent involved and it can't of been too expensive a show to shoot.

€24.95 in HMV in Blanchardstown for those who are interested. I hadn't seen any of it on television, but I chanced it. Great program! David and Mr. Jelly are my favourite characters.
