Google or haynes manual should show you how to drain the old coolant out - should be a bung in the bottom of the rad or removing a bottom hose from the rad.

Coolant should be disposed of properly as well, don't go pouring it down the drain! Your local rubbish dump should be able to accomodate it.

its just above the "low level"
cant i just pour in the new coolent ontop of the old stuff without draining/flushing.

If you're not sure what coolant is in it already, don't mix even if they have the same colour.

It's cheap enough to just flush the system and put new in.

Note, some peeps will say to use distilled water. You decide.

If unsure, have a mechanic show you and you'll know next time.

Its not difficult to do but I'm guessing that you are a novice and the manual will be very helpful.

A mechanic is unlikely to do this unless asked. Generally (from my experience) a mechanic is asked to "service my car" and then goes off and changes the oil but doesn't do brake fluid, coolant, etc. unless specifically requested.
