I did Portlaw and Rathgormack 5m recently but will miss this as doing the half marathon in Clontarf next week. I'd say the west waterford ac pages are the only place that there might be anything??

I did it last year...its roughly a mile downhill...2m down the beach through seaweed, holes, stones etc...2m back up the other side of the strand on single lane gravel path, then up the mile hill you came down at the start.

Its not bad,i am not to keen on running on uneven surfaces so i spent the whole race looking at where my next step was going to land, other than that the beach part is lovely as you can see everyone ahead of you, unlike most races when the leaders are out of sight in a minute.

Wont be doing this year though.

I'm still debating whether or not to do it, it's my least favourite of the summer series races. I'll probably guilt myself into it about 7 o'clock tomorrow evening.
Sosa pretty much summed it up, it's not one for times but it's a different experience. The views are nice as you're running to the end of the sand spit that crosses Dungarvan bay. There's usually a bit of a spread and a few pints in Mooney's pub in Ring afterwards.

have never done this race but always wanted to so i'm making the effort to get down tomorrow nite.. i always race well on the beach, prob cos i do plenty of training on the one near me...the rabbit holes etc that i have heard about should be interesting and the waterford races are always enjoyable

I ran this on Friday evening and really enjoyed it although I couldn't stay around for the food afterwards I really enjoyed the race.. The fact that it was such a lovely evening and such an interesting and scenic course made for an enjoyable run.

I'd definitely do this again with the watch left at home as it's not one to go looking for a PB in although saying that as it was my first 6mile race so that's exactly what I got :)

sorry to burst ur bubble blind hurler but my garmin measured the route at 5.48miles and heard other competitors clocking it at slightly above 5.5miles............i suppose it depends on what route u took across the beach........ with the soft sand and sand dunes, it would be very hard to get a pb here............. still a good race though....

I took a very wide line to make sure it was six miles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah felt it was less alright but still enjoyed the race...

I like to think of it as a "short" 6, but 6 nonetheless :)
