    I'm toying with the idea of converting a storage area into rehersal rooms. The'd probably a bit rough and ready to start out with. Would there be any demand for it in the area I'm wondering?

    What part you talking about? I'd probably use them with my band, but would only be once a fortnight or so if even that. It would depend on if there's parking, if you have to climb too many stairs with equipment, if there is a bathroom, soundproofing, and if it's not a complete dump really.

    If you mean rough and ready by dirty, or no equipment whatsoever I take it this would reflect in the cost....:confused:

    Thanks Moon;

    Rough and ready I meant clean and basic. Probably no hi-tec foam padded insulation etc, most likely not a BOSE backline either. Just a good clean room that you can jam in for starters. Parking and No Stairs. Internet and Coffee/Tea.
    At the mo since it's currently storage the toilet is a couple of doors down the road in the pub.

    There is a place in chapelizod/newlands cross and red cow with another opening in palmerstown

    to say it's gonna be tough to get any business is an understatement. You really need to have an exceptional place with a
    name for itself!

    If your determined then def go for it yeah!!!

    A lot of places going to the ground because they weren't up to standards.

    Not just saying that because I own the one in chapelizod but been at these studios for years and seen so many fail
    Thanks Gary;
    I'm just doing a bit of a feasability study to see if it will pay the rent & bills by itself before I dip my toes in. I'm not even looking to get a wages out of it, I'll be happy that it doesn't cost me money.
    I want a room for myself to work out of but I can make this into 3 or 4 practical rooms for a variety of purposes such as band practise.

    Ray.

    in the pub....eeek, No rehearsal shall be done!:D Thanks for that. I suppose wihout a backline you'd need to lower the cost a bit. We'd prob book it and use our own backline but not expect to pay as much as other studios,. As part of your feasibility, you might could put up a notice in the new centre in the lawns there, it has a studio in it where young musicians hang out, and the civic centre...if you got enough calls/emails about it, then bingo! Good luck with it:)

    Thanks Moon. It's a bit of a stiff outlay to convert the place and get it running but like said if it'll pay it's own bills reliably I might do it.

    I thought a photo studio in Ballyer would've been appreciated but that flopped and cost me a fair whack so I'm not looking to take the hit again. (www.topfoto.ie)

    Ray :rolleyes:
