AIG shares ...worth a punt?

We all know about AIG share price dropping from $80 dollars to almost zero & the bailout but as the dust settles I feel this share may be worth a punt as it looks they are no longer in danger of going to the wall & they intend to float their Asian arm AIA in the 3rd or 4th quarter.

    what're your opinions please?

I don't think there is any value here. If you do some research you will see that this is basically a zombie corporation after a quasi-nationalisation by the U.S taxpayer, who now has first priority to get any benefit from the future success of this company long before you or any other foreign investors make a cent from it. It has also sold off many of its profitable assets and has a disgraced and untrustworthy brand name.

You are basing your possible buy on immaterial information.

I've heard that they intend to float their Asian branch AIA in 3rd or 4th quarter - I'd expect this to increase the value of AIG as a result of funds raised during the flotation, right?
