Anybody else catch this tonight? I only caught the last half hour but it was excellent stuff. A real gritty drama, Tom Hardy was bad ass in one of the leading roles.
It's a four part series, each episode being an hour. The first two were shown back to back tonight.

Yeah watched the whole thing tonight very gritty stuff. Friend of mine is an extra in it think she is in next weeks episode.

I reckon this was shot in Ireland, I just saw an extra in one of the bar scenes that I used to work with. It's gritty adult stuff alright, haven't found any of the characters sympathetic so far. The rape scene was horrific. The costume design is very, very good indeed, very close to the decade in question. will be watching next week...

Was it the port tunnel they drove through in the opening scenes?

I recorded it last night and will watch it tomorrow. I read in an interview with Brian Cox that some of it was filmed in Mountjoy

    Wednesday I think.

    DRAMA: Martina Cole's The Take
    On: Sky1 (106)
Date: Wednesday 24th June 2009 (starting in 5 days)
    Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)
The drama plumbs even darker depths. Little Freddie follows in his father's footsteps and reveals the extent of his sadistic capabilities. Strong language, violent scenes.
(Editor's Choice, Stereo, New Episode, Part 3 of 4, Widescreen, Subtitles, Audio Described, 2008)

Starring: Tom Hardy, Shaun Evans, Brian Cox, Charlotte Riley, Kierston Wareing

    DRAMA: Martina Cole's The Take
    On: Sky1 (106)
Date: Wednesday 1st July 2009 (starting in 12 days)
    Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)
Blood is spilt as the unflinching drama reaches its brutal end. Freddie is caught in the cross hairs of the many people who he has wronged.
    Sex/Violence/Strong language.
(Stereo, Last In Series, New Episode, Widescreen, Subtitles, Part 4 of 4, Audio Described, 2008)

Saw this on Sky Anytime the other night and watched the first part. Very impressed by it so far, its a real gritty piece of television. Haven't gotten around to watching part 2 yet (it's on Anytime as well) but intend to tonight.

Some of the night scenes were done around pigeonhouse road.

watched all 3 episodes last night. Great television. Only meant to watch one episode but me an the missus were roped in.

looks like all the outdoor scenes were filmed in Dublin. I noticed:
    The Port Tunnel
    Flats in town
IFSC / Custom House (Scene down the docks)
    Trains / Train Station..maybe Rush/Lusk Train Station

paul, some people (like me!) were waiting until all 4 episodes had aired before watching. I have the first 3 lined up on Sky+ and was looking forward to watching them next weekend. Please don't post spoilers like that.

Its in a spolier tag. You dont have to run over it! Show some self resraint!

Ive been following it - excellent stuff. Cant wait for the final installment.

It is a really good show. Much, much better than I was expecting. Tom Hardy is just brilliant. Though he must have been smoking about 100 cigerettes a day when filming cos he is smoking in just about every scene.
I found the end of Episode 3 chilling. Had a feeling though that Freddie Junior was going to do what he did

Mr E added that spoiler tag.. it was previously un-spoilered.

The final episode wrapped things up nicely even though I would have liked to have seen a showdown between Jimmy & Freddy. This was one of the best pieces of television drama this year imo.

Yeah, I was hoping to also see
the showdown between Jimmy & Freddy

Tom Hardy was fantastic, the only thing I didn't like was some of the mockney dialogue, especially during the 80's setting. But overall very enjoyable.
