Ive got my N64 working at last and so far have managed to find these games:
    Mario Kart 64
    Goldeneye
    Lylat Wars
    Perfect Dark
    Zelda Ocarina of Time

are there any other games that you can recommend? someone said to me that micro machines is particularly good for multiplayer. Is it any good?

extreme g, top gear rally, turok and formula 1 grand prix were among my favourites on the N64.
all im missing is my power lead, i would love to be able to play mine

Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros. and Zelda:Majora's Mask are a few more good games.

    Don't get Turok, it's awful.

I'd add Space Station Silicon Valley, Blast Corp, F-zero X, Mario Golf, Mystical Ninja

That is a bloody fantastic list of games tbh. I'd recommend F-Zero X (it's random track feature in particular is crazy), Super Mario 64, Blast Corps (short but very fun), Pilotwings (very relaxing) Mystical Ninja (absolutely hilarious) and one of the old THQ WWF games, they were great fun. Also one of the Nintendo Kobe Bryant NBA games if basketball is your thing. I'll echo what's been said about Turok, it's aged horribly whilst Extreme G is no match for F-Zero

    Zelda:Majora's Mask

+1. Probably the darkest and most involving zelda game that will ever be made

Your set with a bunch of great games as you are.

    Add:
    Banjo-Kazooie.
    +1:
    Majora's Mask.

Agreed. I think I prefer Majoras Mask to Ocarina. It takes a while to get into though, you won't recognise it's genius until after the first dungeon.

Cheers for the suggestions guys. I look forward to a great, long, unemployed summer with my N64.

Now I just have to deal with the pain of hunting down the games

Definitely play ocarina first. Majoras Mask is the sequel and Ocarina is far more accessible.

    Donkey Kong 64
    Diddy Kong Racing
    Banjo Kazooie

    three other good games

Donkey kong 64 and diddy kong racing are a bit **** though.

If you can get your hands on Banjo Kazooie and enjoy it, go for Banjo Tooie too, it's more of the same, but builds nicely upon the original.

(They're both on Xbox live arcade alternatively)

I never got around to Majoras Mask but Ocarina of Time is a classic.

    Must dig out my N64...

As was said before, Ocarina is classic, but Majoras Mask is really something else.

Meh I liked them when I played them.I now play conkers bad fur day, majora's mask and banjo tooie can't be touch but expensive enough.

Well they were good for their time. DK64 just has too many collectibles and DK racing just seems a little derivative and can be frustrating.

Well I liked Diddy kong racing as me and my housemates played mario kart to death. We literally came close to beating world records in the time trials,so when we got diddy kong racing it was just different and the hover craft and plane were a nice change.

Personal perference I guess at the end of the day.

Resident Evil 2 ain't a bad game either...can be frustrating at parts though.

    Anything by Rare
eg. Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, Conkers Bad Fur Day, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Diddy Kong Racing, etc...

As mentioned the THQ wrestling games were great fun & lets not forget World Cup '98, I lost months of my childhood to that game!

Really want to whip out the N64 myself now, god damn it!

Don't think I ever managed to finish Majoras Mask after my 64's first renaissance 2 years ago...
