SMS Plugin for apps/Sending business SMS

Hi guys, has anyone used any third party or open source apps to send bulk SMS through mobile phone operators in Ireland. We have developed a new CMS for a business which has all their customers details (emails/mobiles etc.). Anyway, up to this point they were sending SMS alerts (that customers have agreed to receive) through the web messaging section on the O2 site which was ok, but prone to input errors/duplication etc. but at the same time gives them 250 free sms per month. They want to be able to send the SMS alerts from the new CMS application, we thought we could just export the customer numbers onto the O2 webform as a simple solution, however from testing it appears the phone numbers have to be in your O2 online address book for this to work, so we might need to get back to using a plug-in.

This might be a techy question, but also might be some people who've been down this road from the business end. Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what your looking for, but I created a desktop application before that sent group texts. I used a company called http://www.clickatell.com/ . They are very good and their support services are excellent. Let me know if you've further questions

I am looking at the same thing Wexpen, I know what your talking about. Yes a plugin can be created but it needs the operator codes to work. I am going to be creating such a plugin within the next 2 months & you can PM for any further info.

Best company Ive used. www.webtext.com they're Irish, the texts are very cheap. You can have groups, text numbers so peoples name and number can add to your group automatically, you can send via email and the best one is you can send to your desired group from your own mobile. The customer can receive a one way text (cant reply) or a two way. Finally your desired name comes up, not the number.

Their tech support is excellent and the ptricing is very good.

Im nothing to do with the business but a lot of my clients use em. Give em a buzz and tell them Fusion sent ya!!

I used http://www.esendex.ie/ who offered their APIs and SDKs. My developers managed to link my site quickly. Happy days!

I'm about to put this function into one of my own sites - just glanced at the costings in both esendex and webtext. Esendex looks to be 3 times more expensive per text. That's a fair whack.
