Okay, so here is the dealio.

Currently i am running the first gen imac G5, and recently got a the macbook unibody.

I have been playing music on my macbook, by wirelessly streaming it from the library on my imac. (the library is actually on an external HD, connected to my imac). However, im looking to sell off the imac, and ideally replace it with the cheapest intel core 2 mac mini( or mac pro) i can find. Looking around second hand though, there isnt that many about, so i am considering perhaps buying a windows desktop. There is just a couple of questions i have about all this..

    1. My music library is on a mac formatted lacie drive. However i do have a 32GB partition for windows and linux. Is it possible to copy the library to the partition using my mac, connect a windows pc and copy to the windows PC, or am i gonna have to arse around with disks and stuff?

    2. If i have a windows itunes library on one computer and a mac itunes library open on another, can i still share my music libraries?

    Thanks in advance.

If the partition is FAT32, then yeah that shouldn't be a problem.

Yep, should work fine as well. But it might require some Firewall adjustments on the Windows side.

You should really get a Mac though. :D

There's a Mini on the refurb store at the moment for €501. Nice little saving if you're quick.

If the partition is FAT32, then yeah that shouldn't be a problem.

NTFS wouldn't be a problem either. The OP justs needs MacFuse and NTFS-3G installed on his Mac so he can write to the NFTS partition (they're now even bundled together):

    And they're free :).

But there's no issue streaming all your music from a Windows PC and should work very well OP - in fact, I have all my media (music, movies, etc) on a HP Mediasmart Windows Home Server and everything is streamed from there. iTunes has no issue accessing all the music from it and it works great.
