Kenneallys bus "C", Williamstown Rd

Possibly going to be moving into the Bishopsfield estate, just checking a few things first..

I think the Kenneallys bus C goes down the Williamstown road, and stops more or less near to Bishopsfield. Does anyone know how long the journey is to town? More importantly, how long would the journey be to De La Salle boys' school?

I called Kenneallys and the guy said the bus stops at the Bishopsfield area, at an undefined bus stop (?), at 20 to the hour, every hour.

    Any help welcome! :)

I wouldn't normally use the bus especially during the week but whenever I used it on a Saturday to go into or out of the city I can honestly say that about 90% of the time the K buses haven't run anywhere close to their timetable.

Mostly I've had to wait 40 mins or longer at the bus stop and it's not down to heavy traffic. The service is so unreliable that I wont waste anymore time waiting at a bus stop and will use my car instead.

Sad but true. I've often spent 45 minutes waiting for this "service". If you complain to the driver, they blame "traffic", as if they somehow woke up expecting to see clear roads through Ardkeen, down by the park, Ferrybank, etc!

At least in other parts of the city you have Bus Eireann, and bad and all as they may be, at least their timetable is reasonably reliable.

Had to fix that for you.

BE Waterford service, like all buses in this town, is a joke.

Totally disagree, my experience of Bus Eireann in Waterford is that they are very reliable. Used to get the Johns's park bus in and out of town for a while and the WIT bus in and out and I found both of them were close to the timetable. Plus the buses and all pretty new these days.

Then again, experiences will vary. Personally, though, I'd have no problem with Bus Eireann. Got the rapid from the Quay out to Ferrybank a couple of times and that was fine too.

Iv found the BE service from the college to be fairly unreliable. However, from the quay side things are usually on time departing.

No dedicated bus lanes fecks things up across the city. And with Kenneallys, the route is so long that they can get completely off time.

In fairness, I don't buy the traffic excuses. The most a bus would be ever delayed by would be 10 minutes due to traffic I'd say. Waterford is not massive. Plus the rush hour timetables should reflect the fact that it is rush hour.

Precisely... the fact that the Saturday timetable is the same as the weekday one just underlines this. I'm sure a bus can leave Ballygunner at 08.20 and be comfortably in time for a Quay departure to Ferrybank at 08.40 if it's Saturday morning. However you can't say the same for a weekday.

This though, is obvious to a layman like me. Why do Kenneally's, who are supposed to know more about this business than the likes of me, publish a timetable that is obviously flawed? I just don't get it.

It would be off peak times that I'd use a bus and there aren't any traffic delays yet as I mentioned earlier the average waiting time is 40 mins from the scheduled time on the timetable.
