Choice of Runners

Hi, I am sure this has been discussed before but I just need to ask again!!

I have asked my physio and in sports shops and don't get a definite answer so was looking for personal experience.

I had a severe ankle injury 4 years ago, broke all three bones in my ankle, dislocated the foot and now have metal holding my ankle in place!!!

I want to be able to run, but if I run for 10 minutes today during a walk tomorrow my knee will be very sore, I need a good runner that withstand shock very well, I wear orthotic insoles so support is not as big a factor.

    Thanks

Kayano's have always been famous for their cushioning and sound like exactly what you need. best of luck on your recovery just take it slow

My advice would be do all your running on grass so as running concrete severe on the joints especially knees

I am surprised that the physio you see can't give you a definite answer. He/she may not want to recommend on brand/model, but at least, he/she should be able to recommend few models.
Everybody has different gait, so i would not rush & buy a pair of kayano tomorrow.

18 months without serious shin splints. changed from kayano14 to nike zoom. shins splints/and slight knee soreness now since (co-incidence?).

apart from above, do ye think kayano might help better against shin splints? apparently i overpronate sligtly. (gait test)

think i might go back to kayano esp if on sale in arnotts !?
    thanks.

While i believe the Kiayano to be a better cushioned shoe for support and recommend them i would advise looking into orthotics to fix the root of the problem with shin splints. I suffered for four months this year with shin splints and was told the root of the problem was my gait and as such to correct the problem it was tackled from the source. Been wearing them in my shoe since (Aasics 2130s) putting it really hard training and clocking up miles and no problems

I often found that alot of average physios don't know much about running shoes.Their advice being ''go for a pair of asics'' or(customer) ''my physio wears new balance so i better go for them''
If you have orthotics my advice would be run in a neutral runner as the orthotic is there to provide the support.
Look for a runner that the orthotic fits well.
Brands Nike:vomero and pegasus Asics:nimbus and kinsei Brooks:glycerin and ghost Mizuno:wave rider and ultima new Balance:1063
    saucony:triumph
Is your orthotic a sports one or just a general one???
is it full length or half-3/4???
