Work Placement

I was meant to do 2 months unpaid work placement as part of my course but to cut a long story short I got sick and have only done 1 month. Now I have all my doctor's certs and explained to the company that I was unable to attend work.

They were quite understanding and all but I was just wondering will I be barred from graduating if I dont do my full 8 weeks?

Will not completing the placement affect my overall grades?

The placement where I am is quite awkward for me to get to as well and I'm not sure when I will be well enough to go back.

Could I ask DCU to find me another placement nearer to me and would the month I have worked count towards a new placement or would I have to start the 8 weeks all over again?

Sorry for all the questions but I genuinely don't know.

    Thanks in advance.

Instead of asking people on boards, you'd be better off contacting the INTRA Office and your course coordinator with your query. They'll be able to advise, I'm sure you're not the first person this has happened to.

First be glad that you got a placement at all. A load of people in
my faculty failed to get places and are doing projects within
    the college themselves.

If you were sick then I see no reason why the INTRA office cannot be
just as understanding as the company was. I would be surprised if they
prevented you from graduating but it may affect your grades when you
are writing the report on your placement.

I doubt it would be a problem, if the company are ok with it.
It shouldn't hold you back from graduating. It only becomes a problem if you don't tell them what's going on and it comes back to bite you.

I got sick for a bit during my INTRA, I just asked the company if I could work extra days afterwards to make up for the ones I missed and they agreed. I ended up going back there three months later and staying for 8 years
