Well i finished college in end of May. So far i have applied for the small few jobs that are going in my area but have not been successful. I dont think that i will be getting a job anytime in the immediate future either.

So can i sign on for the JA?

I always thought i had to wait until at least September when i formally graduate and my degree ends.

If i can sign on, what do i need? And can i claim back-pay from when i actually finished college (may 25th)?

    Thanks for the help.

You can apply for JA now, you need a letter from college stating you've finished your studies.Documents needed, PPS no. Details of efforts you have made to get work.Details of your income, bank statements. Proof of your identity, passport + Driver's Licence or Post Office or Bank, building society or credit union book or bank card or rent book.Your mother's birth surname.Proof of your address, utility bills, ie, ESB or phone bills,Rent or mortgage book. Because JA is means-tested,.If you're married or co-habiting.details of your partners income. If you're 24 or under, living with your parents, details of your parents income.Your entitlement for JA back pay only kicks in from the day you apply for it.

AFAIK, there is no provision for debt when it comes to your means test.
