    hey,

Just checking, just got a PS3, and it comes with that crappy coloured leads cable.

My DVD home entertainment system has a HDMI cable i bought for it out of the sony center, it's got gold bits on it.

When i plug that into my PS3, i only get sound. i've tried moving it and putting it in different HDMI connectors on my TV (it's a Sony X series jobbie)

    Can you help? thanks

Does the PS3 connect straight to the TV or through the DVD system? Just wondering by the wording ya used (but Im probably wrong)

Is your TV set up at the right frequency and resolution, it shouldnt affect it but its something to investigate.

Also check the HDMI cable is pushed in quite firmly, same thing happened to my friends PS3 when he brought it over my place, it was like 2mm out and didnt give a signal.

Lol...it is a joke that no HDMI or component cable comes in the box.

Anyway, check your settings on the XMB and make sure HDMI is selected as the video output. Mine came with it set up for scart out and had to change it before HDMI would work.

Stut down the PS3 with the scart in and working. Now plug the HDMI into the playstation and teli. Hold the power button for around 6 seconds until you hear a double beep. It should now come up on screen asking you if you want to change video output and just selesc yes and away you go.

The exact same thing happened to me. I nearly knocked my telly off the wall in annoyance when I pushed it in with force. I walked away, and there was my XMB :D
