I need a couple of thousand IP addresses for a new ISP.
I have sent an application to RIPE, got an invoice back but dont have a clue as to what comes next. Or, should I look elsewhere? Anyone had experience in this before, guidance would be greatly appreciated.

When you have become a LIR you willll need to get yourself a public AS (Autonomous System) number for your ISP network by sending RIPE this form...

    http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-456.html

You then need the IPv4 first allocation form to get your initial Provider Aggregate IP block...

    http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-361.html

And sure get the ipv6 one while your at it...

    http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/ripe-425.html

The RIPE document store is available here and has all of the docs required to operate your LIR.

    http://www.ripe.net/ripe/docs/index.html

There is supporting documentation on each of the above documents on the main Document Store page above.

    Snaga,

I have sent in the application for RIPE membership, got back an invoice for it today. I'll proceed with this and the AS application etc. Glad to know im going in the right direction.

RIPE are very big into their training. There is a LIR Training Course in Dublin on Friday, July 10. You can register at https://lirportal.ripe.net/lirportal/training/course-list.html .

Ah no, seriously interesting question. I don't know the answer but thanks for asking.
It can never hurt to know. :)

Turns out I can have our parent company set aside a block of IP for us, assign them with .ie country code via RIPE.
The RIPE was was pretty straightforward too, cept e2000 to join the club and e1300 per annum for 2000 ipaddreses, they were quick to point out that IPs are free...
Anyone going to the RIPE training next month. I'm not a LIR but should be able to use parent company's registration to attend.
