    Hi,

I've just moved into a new place that has a common satelite dish for the complex. The TV point in the wall has 3 aerial sockets, 2 are the normal type and 1 is threaded for screwing onto. I'm using one of the oridnary aerial points and can get, 4 irish channels no prob, utv, bbc 2 all fine, bbc1&4 are noisy and cnn is fine picture wise but has poor audio.

The landlord said i need some kind of decoder for the satelite - he didnt know too much about it and i know less.... So what would be the best/cheapest option? I'd be happy with irish channels, utv, c4, bbc's and maybe e4 and 3+ bout all i need. Dont want to subscribe to ntl/sky.

Is there a simple plug in and tune system that anyone can reccomend
    Thanks

You don't need a decoder - just a satellite TV receiver. See if you can borrow a Sky Digibox. They are available second-hand very cheaply and no subscription is required for the free programmes.

You can get a standard def sat4free box in Powercity for around €70 (pay online & collect for cheapest price) or a freesat box from uk on ebay or online. Both these have 8-day epg, interactive services and they auto-tune the channels so they are much easier to use than a standard free-to-air sat box. You can also buy the freesat+ box for £249 from richer sounds.

No irish TV available on satellite except via $ky with subscription. You can use an standard aerial for analogue reception or DTT trial (see terrestrial forum)
