    Hi,

can anyone give me a rough idea of how much an i20 would end up costing me after everything (VRT, VAT?) if it costs 9000 up north and i bought it for use down south?

And also, does anyone know if northern dealers will take southern cars in trade-ins?

Apologies if this info is repeatedly asked but i couldn't find anything about buying new cars up north.

    Thanks.

I don't think there's much of a difference between buying second hand and buying new - you just wouldn't bother getting the car registered in the North.

Use this tool to figure out the VRT:

As for VAT, you only have to pay that in the country you purchase in. So you'd just pay UK VAT in the North.

Some Northern dealers advertise that they take Southern trade ins, but I doubt you'd get very good value out of it, and it would eliminate your chance of negotiating any deal.

Theres one thing going up North for a Ford or a Vdub or something but for a Hyundai!!!! Christ if you're gonna go to all the hassle then atleast buy something nice. I'd still sooner have a year old Fiesta or even a demo Fiesta the way things are going at the moment. ;)

Isn't the i20 supposed to be essentially the same as the Fiesta? Although the 09 Fiesta is nice, is the 08 the same cause the 06 - 07 ones looked piglike compared to the 09.
