If there is money in my a/c who knows its there, can social welfare check to see how much I have. Is there a way i can lodge it, either add another person to the a/c or something to avoid it being taken into a/c when getting means tested for medical card. I'm not talking about millions, my dad recently passed away and my mam cashed in the life insurance worth €35,000 but is afraid now that her medical card will be stopped. Is there anyway around this.

Before you talk of ways of defruading the S/W, you might check to see if this would actually effect hert entitlement.

If she is over 70 she has nothing to worry about. She can keep the medical card for 3 years provided that her income is less than €1,400 a week.
After that - the means test ignores capital under 36k anyway . She should let the HSE know though - just to be safe. See here http://www.citizensinformation.ie/categories/health/entitlement-to-health-services/medical_card for more details on under 70s.

Best to let them know though.

Thread locked. OP, please read the forum charter before posting.
    *Dishonest dealings
Don't ask how to get around repaying debts/defaulting/giving false information for loans etc - basically if it's not above board, and legal, it's not allowed.
