JEB Teaching Diploma

I posted this over on the IT Certification forum but got no replies, maybe it's more suited to this forum.
Basically I just want some information on the JEB Teaching Diploma (the full title is actually "JEB from EDI Teaching Diploma in Information Technology").
It's starting in November in the HSI Limerick Business School and I was thinking of going for it. I am out of work at the moment but I could do this and still keep a job if I got one (it runs on a Saturday).
However I would like to hear from someone who has this Diploma. What kind of opportunities are there for those looking to teach IT, either at second-level or as a tutor?
I'm not just thinking of the job, I think I would be a good teacher and enjoy it, but I'd like to know the value of such a qualification.
    Thanks for any replies.

It doesn't matter what IT qualification/course you do, to teach in second level you need a recognised degree and HDip/PGDE.

The JEB is used to teach courses in FAS and similar areas. Personally I don't think it's worth much. Had a teaching practice student for JEB in my class earlier this year who only had to do 2 hours teaching practice. He then came back to me later on saying he had another 2 hours to do and could I sign off on the form anyway. I also had to fill in the assessment - I don't see that it's my job to assess him - and nobody from the course ever bothered to contact me to see if this guy turned up to do the practice or if what I put on the form was accurate or even if it was me that filled in the form. Nobody came to supervise him either.

Now there was a thread about it here a while back if you do a search and some comments suggested that's it's not like that everywhere it's run. That's only my experience of it but personally I don't think it's worth much really.

Thanks for the info, I wouldn't be qualified to teach at second level with just that so it's not worth it. Teaching in FAS centres might be OK but relying on that is not great.

In HSI its a good and thorough course. Its very intensive and required commitment to get all the assignments done. As said, it does not qualify you to teach at second level, its for those working in adult ed.. It does not teach you IT, it teaches you how to teach, how to prepare learning materials, how to set assignmnets. Its good if you already work in the area and are looking to get qualified. Of the group I was in those not alreday working in IT or education left or failed.
