Looking at getting a new road bike but I'm only really familiar with shimano groupsets, does anyone have a link comparing sram, shimano and Campagnolo comonents? eg what the equivilent of 105 or ultegra would be in the others. Thanks.

Hard to compare like with like really. Campagnolo ditched their low end stuff this year and Sram never really did it. Probably 105 would be equivalent to Campagnolo Veloce and Sram's Rival.

Agree although would feel SRAM>105>Veloce but thats just personal preferance.
Dura-ace=record and are both probably = SRAM red. Super record is weight wise prob the best but comes with a premium price and is used by very few pro teams.
Chorus is better than ultegra and I'm not too sure where SRAM force fits in.

I'd certainly put Rival on a par with Ultegra having ridden both, though the SRAM groupset is lighter than the Shimano. I would also say Red is comparable or better than the latest Dura Ace 7900, and SRAM Force ain't a long way off either, maybe similar to last years DA

As for Campagnolo, I have no idea!

A lot of the weight weenie discussion concerns only the top end groups, but this link has a table which goes down to 105, Chorus and Rival, though some is for 08 groups.

    One view:

    - Buy Campag if you want 11 speed (at high end) or 10sp Veloce for decent weight and prettiness
    - Buy SRAM for combination of light weight, DoubleTap shifting and Shimano compatibility
    - Buy Shimano over SRAM if you don't like DoubleTap and want stiffness and smooth shifting

Older high end 10sp Campag stuff is well priced now and worth considering.

I'm probably going for SRAM next, as I don't want 11 speed and find Shimano stuff functional but uninspiring.

Who gets inspired by a groupset? Seriously now.

Jaysus, you must be so inspired that you stay at home all day gazing at it, cause I've rarely seen you actually on the bike:D.

Well this picture makes me feel slightly weak and dizzy, a bit like how I felt when I first watched a Mélissa Theuriau video montage.

I don't want to ruin it!
