Mirrors - WTF - Ending - Very Annoyed

Im pretty annoyed with the ending on the Mirrors Movie

Is this an opening for a sequel or what because although it a horror movie I would still like to see some type of a happy ending.

He's been sent over to the other side, whatever that is. Not a sequel opening, just a downbeat ending

Horrible film, far below the sum of its parts with the excellent Alexandre Aja at the helm and career resurrected Sutherland showing he is now, and forever will be, Jack Bauer and only Jack Bauer

It's a pretty bad movie. Also lots of horror movies don't have happy endings, I don't know why you would expect one.

The only good scene was Tara Reid (I think?)

getting her jaw detached by mirror-Tara-Reid in the bath.

I was pretty disappointed in Mirrors overall. The ending was exactly the sort of Shyamalamadinging-style "What a twist" nonsense that I'd expect some twit trying to write a generic supernatural horror. It can be done well, in films like La Habitación Del Niño.

I don't get why you'd expect a horror film to have a happy ending though. I mean, yes, Mirrors certainly fit the template used for various Hollywood cookiecutter "thriller/horrors" and a happy ending is usually part of that template, but still...a film should have an ending that concludes its narrative in a satisfactory manner, not just have "and they lived happily ever after" bolted onto it.

Regarding my hope for a happy ending.

I was hoping for more of a "closure" to the Movie rather than the wonderment of

whether or not he is going to see his family again or not.

I normally hope for bad endings in war movies though.

Once, just once, Can somebody write a script where the Nazis actually win?

It was a woeful film, total waste of my 8.20 or whatever i wasted to see it...the only good part for me was spoiler:

where the demon is brought through to our dimension and goes nuts trying to kill anything it can

I thought it was a big pile of sh!te...made little to no sense, and was a big waste of time and money. Dont remember perfectly now so correct me if i'm wrong, but after bein freaked out by the mirrors and knowing they're haunted or whatever, why the hell didnt he quit his job and get a new one. I remember just thinking what a dumbass and he deserves what he gets.
