3 Pints to the good

3 pints of guinness and straight on the bike home from work/after work drink. Raced everything that moved and old women got beaten, cars got beaten and dudes on racers that had cyclists legs and cycling shoes which obviously means they could win tour de france got beaten. All until i hit a hill and then i was f*cked and nearly passed out.

This leads me to believe that if i got half tanked before a race i could potentially run pain free due to the alcohol for maybe 9 mins (or until i hit a hill), possible 1500 or 3k pb. anything longer i would prob realise i was quite drunk, feel the pints come up my throat and get sick. obviously this 9 mins includes warm up so would have to do absolutely no warm up and bury the bejaysus out of myself with no strides or nothing... fool proof.

have often heard of people run pbs after nights out.... anyone testify to this?

About 12 years ago I ran a stormer in the Leinster Intermediate XC - after staying up 'til 4 in the morning watching Tyson V Lewis, drinking way too many pints and far too many chilli hot dogs and nachos - 4hrs sleep, shower, cereal bar and OJ in the car. Didn't feel that great when I sobered up after the race :p

A friend of mine (and a smoker) did an 8k in 29 mins on a hangover from hell but couldn`t walk for days after... He`s a hurler!
    I did a 51min 10k after a 10 hr drinking session and 2 hrs sleep, never again!
As for PBs you might run faster and lighter due to being dehydrated...
oh and get a microwave :D

Did a half-marathon after 3 and a half hours sleep and a six hour drinking session.

Not to be repeated. I was less than 10 minutes off my PB anyway.

The first half of the race was great, was still so gung-ho, the last stretch was pretty much torture.

Still though, all the energy drinks they had at the drink stops along the way are perfect for the hangover!
