Theres an album after being released by irelands more known bands in aid of some charity.

Heard the flaws song for the album, sounded nice, then i heard a band cover gigantic from the pixies - didnt catch who was covering it... assault on the senses! I've been offended by it. Anyone know who did it?

Less than 30 seconds on google tells me its this. :)
It's due on July 12 and benefits Aware.

Bell X1, Lisa Hannigan and Damien Dempsey are among those contributing to Sparks N’ Minds, a new benefit album that will assist Aware in helping people with depression.

Due on June 12 through 1969 Records, the covers collection has been put together by Final Year students at the Sound Training Centre.

Those tackling their favourite songs include:

The Flaws ‘Killing Moon’ (Echo & The Bunnymen)
    Ham Sandwich ‘Stay’ (Shakespeare’s Sister)
Republic Of Loose ‘God Moves On The Water’ (Blind Willie Johnson)
Damien Dempsey ‘The Heckler From Grouse Hall’ (Christy Moore)
Dave Couse ‘Caroline, No’ (The Beach Boys)
Lisa Hannigan ‘Courting Blues’ (Nick Drake)
Le Galaxie – ‘Maneater’ (Hall & Oates)
    Cowboy X – ‘Gigantic’ (Pixies)
Dirty Epics – ‘Glory Box’ (Portishead)
The Thrills – ‘Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me’ (The Smiths)
Bell X1 – ‘No Retreat, No Surrender’ (Bruce Springsteen)

    The Thrills covering The Smiths.

There should be a law against it.

Yeah, someone ****ed up biblically there. I imagine it sounds like the aural equivalent of diarrhoea, all watery and unpleasant.

So all you people have heard the covers you're criticising, correct ?

Aye, I made the mistake of looking it up. It wasn't as offensively bad as I thought it was going to be, just a bit boring.

I will admit I haven't heard the Dirty Epics do Portishead but there is no way they'll pull it off. I'll put my house on it.

And to echo others in the thread: The Thrills covering The Smiths - ack! ack! ack!
