Looking to pick up a Tomb Raider game for PSP. Any suggestions as to which one is the best one to go for? Would buying Legend and Anniversary as that new double pack be overkill?

They are both short games but absolutely horrible to control on the PSP without the second analogue stick. Buy something else tbh.

I played one on my PSP. Cant remember the name but lara handled like a freight train. I kept falling off ledges, because she seemed to keep going after I let go of the button. Game play was awful. Nearly as bad as Medal of Honour. That was really awkward!

If you want to play tomb raider, pick up a PS2. You will get one for half nothing and play it on that.

    Tut tut.
I have played all the main Tomb Raider games, went on holiday for Angel of Darkness though, and I believe they're quite good. Not rubbish.

That said the controls can be very wonkey, even on playstation 2.
I have screamed blue murder at the screen hundreds of times, I will admit that. Now imagine that rage but with something in your hand that be thrown far, far away.

Take it from a fan of the games: if you play this on psp, you will throw the console away, literally.

Any tomb raider after the first was rubbish until legend which was alright and anniversary which was great. Just not on the PSP.

TR2 wasn't bad and TR4:The Last Revelation was really good.

I thought the second one was quite good. The urban settings (I know, not tombs...) were a nice change. But I agree after that it went down hill. I lost interest halfway through 3 and 4, didn't touch 5, and only half played AoD as I got it free with a graphics card.

Like you said, Legend and more so Anniversary are good games. Plus, they're less than €15 on (proper, dual analogue stick) consoles at this stage.

I thought 2 was dreadful stuff. No tombs, the combat was upped but they didn't try to make it any better and the whole thing just got silly like with the yeti's.

The last boss was also broken and annoying after a long and frustrating game.

Actually thinking about it, I haven't played last revelation and i did here it was quite good.

Yeah it was all about tombs. None of that Area51 ballox, no russian warehouses or sewers of London... whatever they were supposed to be.

The focus was primarily Egyptian tombs and had a lot of nice elements. I'm not saying go play it now but you know.

Underworld was pretty good as well. You can tell that since Legend the developers have been trying new things with every game. Some work some don't but at least its not the same thing all the time. Plus Doppelganger Lara was fun to control. No mansion to explore though :(

Anniversary is the best one to play on the PSP. It plays well without a second analogue stick, it looks great and the frequent checkpoints mean that it's easy to pick up and play. I haven't played Legend on PSP but I've heard that the controls were a bit crap, but were improved for Anniversary.

    Tomb Raider II ftw.
