Terribly sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I searched my darndest.

I've been working part time in a catering company for 2 years, have never claimed the tax that I'm due back, and the process seems over complicated somehow. No two people (including the tax office, and my employers) are telling me to do the same thing with regards getting my tax back.

Is there someone on here that might be able to help? Do I simply need to send a P45 , P60 to the tax office, or is there some other process/form I should go through?

    Thanks in advance,
    z

This topic might get a better response in the tax forum? But I will try to help. Are you working at the moment and are you a PAYE worker? Because if you are and have all you tax credits with your employer you would have received it back by now.A common misconception is that you are entitled to tax back if you are a student or part time this is not true. If you earn over yout tax free allowance you pay tax. If you are a paye worker the simplest thing for you to do is register with the revenue online and then fill out your earnings to create a P21 ( a balancing statement) if you are owed anything you will recieve a rebate. Hope this is of help.

Thanks so much for the help. And mods indeed it might be better to move this to the tax forum. Either way, I sent this e-mail out to the tax office yesterday:
    "Hello,

Can you please check my taxes for the year of 2007/8/9 thus far and send me a balancing statement. My PPS number is ******** . I am a part time employee with ......
    Thank you. "

And got a reply already: "Dear Sir,

Reviews of your taxes for 2007 and 2008 have been processed and P21 balancing statements for those years will issue to you shortly."

So there you have it, thanks for the help.
