How do you talk to someone on the phone when calling Revenue - I can't get past the automated system!

My advice after going round and round within the revenue 2/3 years ago would be to hire an accountant.

After 4 weeks of trying to talk to someone that could actually do anything to help me sort a mistake that the revenue themselves had made (and a clear paper trail of the mistake including cheques that the revenue had cashed but not acknowledged...go figure) I eventually managed to talk with the person responsible in Limerick.

I grovelled and grovelled and grovelled for the unpleasant lump on the end of the phone to sort this out...she had zero problem admitting it was the revenues mistake, however getting her to actually sort the problem out was another matter entirely. Eventually she just told me to go and get an accountant, in her by now familiar 'I don't give a s**t manner'.

I don't think they will actually deal with joe public in the vast majority of instances and instead want you to go and hire an accountant.

One week and several hundred euros of accountant fee's later - problem solved. Unhelpful tossers that she was, her general attitude was your guilty until you have hired an accountant. Go figure.

There was a mistake on my P21 Balancing statement for 2008 so i sent them in my p60 but am still waiting on the money!

It's €600 so not worth hiring an accountant over!

oh revenue are great at trying to get you off the phone and give you the run around. I'd suggest emailing in your query, they are usually good at replying to emails.
