***Ireland vs Pakistan*** Offician Thread

decided to use classic Betfair parlance for the thread.

Nothing to play for for Ireland bar pride. Though perhaps they have that already with a Super Eight appearance and a great shout against Sri Lanka.

Pakistan NEED to win don't they? Will they want revenge for last time out?

8-1 out from 6-1 for Ireland... Might be worth a tenner.

    I would say probably yes.:D

There is still a very remote chance of Ireland going thru, if we absoultely hammer Pakistan today and Sri Lanka destroy New Zealand; its extremely unlikely but lets not lose hope :)

Should be a good game today. Make no mistake; Pakistan will be out for revenge after the last world cup, but if we play like we did yesterday then well give them a good game, and who knows, another upset maybe!

TBH if we lose by 9 runs I will be delighted.
Pakistan are out to smash us.
If we lose well then they look like the arrogant bunglers they are.
    MORAL VICTORY.

great last couple of overs. Actually very good bowling apart from that Johnstone over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

Rankin is really hammering it in there.....
    Good Lad.

Shame we dont have a bit more pace.
We are probably losing this one, but it would be nice to scare the batsmen a bit.

great bowling McCallum. Afridi was starting to look dangerous. We didn't need him to get set

Afridi good wicket to get, 78/2, go on McCallan! :)...

If we keep getting this up and prevent the big hitters from getting no more than starts then we could keep them to a getable total. The bowling has been good apart from a couple of overs.

No need to be gifting them runs with stupid overthrows like that tho...

We need a wicket soon, but we might be able to stick them at 150.

    Edit: wOOt!

    Nice over.
    Aggressive.

159/5 for Pakistan, 160 needed for the win...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    Right 160 to win. Doable.

Shame Cusack & Johnston couldn't bowl tighter. Very expensive.
    Boyd was great today.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,879 ✭✭✭D3PO

    certainly doable.

It would be our best ever T20 score achieved but the pakistan bowling has been dodgy so far this tournament. they have given away plenty of front foot no balls. if they do that today we win. if they bowl diciplined then its probably a tight loss .

    come on boys

We are cable of doing it need a solid start and build a partnership in the middle overs give us a chance going into last few overs..

There no pressure on our lads so hopefully they will give it a go.

What's with the Sky commentary team: "They'd have liked 200"...

Farking Test teams would love 200, not to mention ODI teams. Of course a 20/20 team would want 200.

Wandered past Ladbrokes, into Souths in Limerick, to have a cuppa whilst this was starting, and threw a few coppers on an Ireland/Windies double.

Won't buy a house from it but it'll pay for the shopping if it pays.

Frak the goings on... If Ireland can just pick it up a gear they'll put themselves in with a shout.

    Unlucky.

    Good knock from Porterfield.
We might just pull this off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

That last over has probably killed us.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    This is dreadful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,591 ✭✭✭✭Aidric

Pathetic streak of no runs, Pakistan have this in the bag.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    Mooney out, going big.

    93/4

Its basically 2.6 runs a ball required.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    Trent Bowled.
    99/5

Gul is having a stormer again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,800 ✭✭✭county

    Falling to pieces now 101-5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭d'Oracle

    I'm genuinly sad.
Those 14 balls for 1 run and an extra just screwed us to the wall.

    Gul is too strong.

    Kev Out now.
    Game over really.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,414 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

A real hammering in the end. Gul went through the lineup like a hot knife through butter. Also great defensive (or is it "offensive"?) bowling from Pakistan to get so many dot balls.

Super work from Ireland in the field and from a couple of our bowlers, but our batting still isn't up to par.

Would love to have won the toss today, wonder what advantage (if any) that might have given us.
