Giant CRS Alliance, any reason NOT to buy?

Have to decide in the next 2 weeks what to replace my current commuter bike with and tried a Giant CRS 0 at the weekend and found it better than a Lapierre RCR 500, much more comfortable for me.

As I'm keen to use up my full €1000 allowance on the BTW scheme I though I might get the next model up, Giant CRS Alliance, comes with a half carbon/aluminium frame and upgraded components. I'm PRESUMING the geometry is the same as I can't find any geometry specs for the CRS 0, only the CRS Alliance. The shop didn't have an Alliance in stock to try.

Thought I had settled on a Specialized Sirrus Expert (based on nothing but reviews/opinions) but the road surface through Ranelagh/Rathmines has me concerned about wheel damage and comfort, so the CRS was suggested as slightly more comfortable and a bit thougher in the wheel dept!

I have yet to find a shop with a large Sirrus in stock for me to try!!

Anyone tell me why I shouldn't get a CRS Alliance for a 12 mile round trip in and out of Dublin City Centre with a steep hill at the end.

Or indeed if anyone has any experience of Alliance technology frames from Giant in general, the bike shop staff seemed a bit dubious but admitted they had no actual concrete reason to be so.

Sorry for the bump. Did you get this in the end?

I did indeed and couldn't be happier, got the crankset upgraded to Shimano 105 and Ultegra bottom bracket, all because one of the cranks was missing - someone in the shop "borrowed" it for another bike and it never reappeared, a replacement was going to take weeks to arrive. No cost to me of course, thanks to the guys in The Bike Hut in Cabinteely, they were very obliging.
