I was wondering if there's actually many doing Ancient Greek for the Junior Cert? I didn't even know it was taught, and I was really surprised to see it on the timetable.

For those who do it, what's it like?

I heard its only a bit of actual greek language and alot of greek history like the roman history you do in the subject history.

Useless learning greek unless your planning on doing history.

I heard on Spin that only 50 people took it.
And the Report for 2004 (most recent I can find) says 25, so this sounds right

Nah the worst one is Hebrew Studies. Anything up to 0 (nobody does it some years) to 5 does it. What's the point in spending so much if so little does it?

What makes you think it costs much?

I dunno, print, post, aurals (recording them), orals, correctors, superintendents, the superintendent's slave-peoples and whatever else I may have omitted. I just don't really see the point if there is 0 candidature a year. In fairness, the SEC might just not print or create any exam papers if there is 0 candidates, but I dunno if they do.

Anyways, I don't care about the SEC and it's money, I paid my 103 Euro. Just pointing it out, that's all. Just seems abit elaborate to provide a full state exam for such a tiny, tiny number of people, when they cut bus services to small communities.

Pretty sure there isnt and oral/aural.

Print? For all 5 exam papers? Thats probably why we're in a recession.

When you do the registration thing when you choose levels, the SEC print the papers, they dont go off and print 10,000 exam papers just in case.

Our country tends to do things fairly arseways, but not that arseways!

Cost of superintendents? There'd be 5 people, most likely in the same centre, and even if the weren't, there would be a maximum of 5 centres. Again, not a big cost.

Okay, fair enough, there isn't an aural or an oral at Junior level anyway. But still contingency papers etc. And the SEC must print extra papers, as when our class began a mass-exodus to ordinary level business on the day of the exam, there was still enough papers. And I bet we do things that arseways - there's probably 5 different exam centres and 5 different correctors to protect the "contingency" due to the small amount.

Okay, fair enough, it's not much. But still, godamnit. Agreeeee with me. :P :pac:
