When I was in Asia before I had a small pouch thing which I carried around my neck inside my t-shirt and then just held everything else in my school bag. The pouch was only slightly bigger than a passport and had a string through it to hang around my neck. Think its the best way to carry around money, credit cards, passports etc. I'd say you could make up one easy enough.

I'd highly recommend something similar to this... i was pickpocketed in Ecuador and if i'd been using mine properly he wouldn't have gotten my credit cards and driving licence!!

I had one of those money belts too, never used it though. My passport was always held by the hostel and I don't use credit cards. Usually I'd just have enough cash on me for the day, not even a wallet.

highly recommend bringing a credit card because most countries we've been to don't take ATM cards and you have to withdraw money with VISA or Mastercard...

But I use my wallet for enough money for the day, so if I lose that it's not the end of the world and the money belt for passport, credit card, atm. If i had a security locker in my hostel I'd always leave it there, but that's seems to be a luxury and rare item in many of the places i've stayed

I suppose it depends where your going. Anywhere in Europe and the US/Canada will take Irish ATMs. Anywhere that's touristy really I suppose they make it as easy as possible to get your money.

Stupid. Every theif knows where people keep things and if they really want it they will just straight up rob you. Probably not so much in Asia where they try to smooth talk the money outta your pocket rather than physically take it. Just leave passport, bank cards, etc in the hostel locker. Take whatever money you think you need. Don't leave valuable stuff in easy to reach pockets on packed buses, trains etc. The robbers are skilled at that sh1t and will take it. Then again don't be paranoid, just have common sense. In over 4 years of traveling in total including the supposed top 10 most dangerous cities on earth i have never had one single problem.
