    Hi,

I have a Sat system and an great reliable old analogue aerial distributed throughout the house.

With the arial we get all the irish channels and english channels however recently picture is poor and it goes completely during rain or any kind of bad weather.

I looked up at the aerial and its badly weathered and has several liottle pieces missing off it must have fallen off over the past two decades.

I am just looking for advise on possibly installing a replacement aerial.

Is it worth my while as DDT is just around the corner? If it is worth my while where can i source a decent quality one? (i am based in Offaly thanks)

There is no such thing as an analogue or Digital aerial. If you are in an area getting DTT initially, it's very likley any aerial you get will be fine as the power is often higher.

Do you get TV from Longford?

Also Analogue is unlikely to be turned off inside next 4 years.

Go ahead and get a professional replacement.

When I was looking for a good high-gain UHF antennae, I could not find an Irish source. I posted a thread asking if anyone knew where to get a Fracarro antennae from and there were no replies, so I ended up having to get one from the UK.

Yes i noticed same but i am always unsure as lots of English sites mention digital as well and i wouldn,t be 100% sure i was ordering the correct one.

I would be very capable of replacing it myself if i could source the relevant one for here.

(in Spain their digital tv service works similar to analogue with the old style antenna and a booster)

I just found one in stock at my local argos in Tullamore.

Can someone please look and confirm that it would be ok for me it must be when local argos are selling them.

That looks very much like the Fracarro Omega 5 antennae I got, except with at least twice the number of elements. Mine works a treat so that should do the trick. Mine cost about £37 which included £19 for postage!, so Argos are doing their rip off Ireland trick as usual.

If you are interested, I got mine from here: http://highdefinition.ltd.uk/home.html

you can check out the fracarro antennae specs in this PDF: http://www.fracarro.com/international/index.php?option=com_docman&task=doc_download&gid=180&&Itemid=250

I should just mention that one reason I got the model I did was because the wind loading was about 90% less than the 14 element version which is important to me as I am in a high wind location.
