Does anyone here collect Rubgy Match Programmes? I collect programmes from Irish Internationals, Heineken Cup Finals, and other one-off games, and I'd be interested in swapping some - have spares going back as far as 1963; Wales v Ireland in Cardiff Arms Park. If you're interested in swapping, or have some programmes etc. lying around the house that you might like to sell, send me a PM

Programme for Munster v Leinster HC semi-final? :D I might burn it. :pac:

It might be worth holding on to - it was the first (and might possibly be the only) Heineken Cup semi to be played at Croke Park and it sold out on the day.

I have alot of international and HEC programmes from the last 10 years or so. Would have to dig them up to see a complete list - but pretty much all home internationals and most Munster matches. Have some spare Munster V All Blacks from last year, and HEC final V Biarritz. Would be interested in swapping some of those for ones i missed out on on.

Damoz - Did you get a chance to put together a list of your "wants and swaps"? PM me when you do and I'll send you on a list of what I have available

Would rugby programmes, for say the HC semi or the munster v all blacks matches, be worth any money in 15-20 years time?

Unlikely I'd say - or at least they won't appreciate significantly in value. These values are determined in the first instance by scarcity rather than age, and programmes are more durable and less disposable these days than they were back in the day.

There is also the small paradoxical matter that the more people who hold onto programmes on the off chance that they'll amount to something in value, the less valuable they actually become!

It will also depend on the circumstances / result of the game - eg if Leinster never win the H Cup again, this years programme will probably be worth more than a 2003 Final programme (Toulouse won their 2nd of 3 titles that year) or a Munster 08. A 1999 Final programme (Ulsters only win) sold for around €18 on ebay recently.
Another factor you have to consider is that a programme will be worth more as part of a collection than on its own. A lot of people are not concerned with the value and just like to collect them.

slightly off topic but I have a ball that was allegedly snuck out of Lansdowne road after Ireland beat England in 1926 by my great grand uncle.
I say allegedly as depending on what elder family member you talk to the story is slightly different!

It's certainly very old, oval pig skin thing. Slippery as a wet fish, we used to play with it as kids.

Don't think its worth much, but looks great.

Sorry for ressurecting an old thread, but i was wondering does anyone know where to get progarmmes framed?

You either get a cheap frame from a picture shop [or even better IKEA, as they have them for feck all] - or if its really valuable in terms of money or its value to you for whatever reason I would pay a few quid and get it done properly by a picture framer..

I have programs for all the games I have ever been at [from schools to several world cups], I would not say I collect them, but I guess I do since I have many hundreds of the ****ers :)

Im in the same boat. Have a wardrobe full of them at home, but there are a few i wanted to get framed All Ireland, 6 x Grand Slam, Ryder Cup and Heineken Cup.

But i just dont know a decent place to get it done, want to get them mounted properly into a frame, as i would just make an ass of it.
