Quick question - when my JSB eventually comes through, will it be backdated to the date I finished college, or the date I actually applied for it (about three weeks later) ?

Did you request to have it backdated to the date you finished college when you made your claim? if not, then it will be the date you made your claim. If you made the request, it is at the discretion of the deciding officer - i.e. have you shown in your request that you were genuinely seeking work during those 3 weeks etc.

Well I didn't specifically request that, but I did have a letter from the college stating that I was finished and the date of my last exam.

Yeah they asked for documentation, so I had thirty-something rejection letters etc dating back since last October! Including a good few from the three weeks after I finished.

If they don't include those weeks, I'm not going to make a fuss or look for it - I hate getting anything, never thought I'd be dependent on state benefits. Hopefully it won't be for too long :( I'm going mental with the boredom already!

Well if it wasn't specifically requested I doubt they will backdate it - you can go in now and see if you can fill out a form to request it. Shouldn't take too long.
And don't hate getting anything - if you are entitled to it, and need it there's nothing to be hating really! As long as you are meeting ends meet - and that's what its about at the end of the day.
