    Hoping someone can help.

I'm trying to add a few short clips from dvd's I've got done from video to my facebook, but when I try it says "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because a compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer".

I have not got a clue how to sort this but presume only way is to buy a dvd decoder?
If anyone can tell me how to do this in a simple way I'd appreciate it as I'm useless on computer.

    Thanks a Million

You are probably missing a codec. Download GSpot and see what codecs the clips use, then google for the proper codec for wmp.
Otherwise use vlc as your player, plays most formats.

Install a trial version of PowerDVD or WinDVD, usually even after the trial the DVD decoder will work (The decoders these programs install work universally not limted to that program), Also if you want to save short clips from the dvd I think you would need to rip the dvd onto your computer (using DVD Fab Free eg) and use something like VirtualDub Mod to cut the clips out of the vobs, you would proabably need to save the output to AVI or something if you use windows movie maker and VirtualDub Mod can export files into the compressed Xvid format (avi)
