NTL broadband interfering with digital TV signal

Since early this week I've noticed that whenever I am doing heavy downloading or uploading on my 10Mb NTL broadband connection, the digital TV (also NTL) freezes on all channels with only blocky sound coming through. The analogue channels are all fine, and stopping internet traffic remedies the situation immediately.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Suffer from the same problem every now and again. It seems to be a problem on the NTL end as it disappears after a few days.

It shouldn't do that at all.. Talk to UPC. I do know some things that might solve it, but you really need to convince them, not me.

it could be a wireless router . are you using one ? if so change the channel on it

WIFI is 2.4GHz (or occasionally 5.8GHz). It can't affect Ditgital TV at all.

Is your TV and BB connected to the one outlet box? If so changing to a 6/1 split should solve the problem

I have 1 inline, UPC seem to fit them as standard

Right, after much rewiring and trying different configurations I managed to narrow the problem down to uploading specifically. Any sort of uploading at all would cause the whole thing to go nuts.

Then, I accidentally plugged out the cable modem. Plug it back in and everything is working fine again!

    I'm an idiot sometimes.

Not the same as I have but I have a feeling that it is a cable modem problem here as I can be sat watching Volvo Ocean race stuff and it dies, noticed that the time goes off my UPC box, ie 00:00 at 1pm
