Braces Pain

So I have had my braces on since last september, last week I got elastics on my brace. They are killing me atm and I haven't been able to eat. Is there anything I can take(apart from painkillers) that will reduce the pain? My dentist has just told me to basically suck it up and it will be gone in a week or two- but I'm starving and sick of drinking soup:(

So if anyone has any recommadations I would really appreciate it:)

You will just need to suck it up as the dentist said, or try eating with parts that aren't being pulled by the elastic. The pain will go in a few days, there are plenty of soft foods besides soup

I got my braces out last month and from what I've learned is that the pain means your teeth are moving quite quickly(which is a good thing!). They will settle as they can only move so much, as the strenght of your wire and elastic bands dictate how much movement you will have. The fact you are on elastics is a good sign too as it means you are nearing the end of your treatment as the elastics job is to simply allign your bite! I think at one stage I had 4 elastics in my mouth so you can imagine the pain I had! If you really are in pain take some solphodine but try not to become too reliant on them. You can also eat soft egg, potato, mushy cereal, veg etc.. Just remember it will be worth it in the end orchidsrpretty so hang in there!!
