I went onto amazon.co.uk to buy a dvd. They had it listed but by a third party who(yes, you've guessed it) does not ship to Ireland. I noticed on the bottom of the page there were links to other amazon websites, one, germany, so I clicked on this. They had the DVD and I was able to order and purchase it(Visa). I don't speak or understand German but the site is identical to the .co.uk site so the transaction was easy. Has anyone ordered from this or the French amazon without issue before. I also don't understand why Amazon.co.uk did not link me to this site in the first place as the German Amazon had the product and do it seems ship to Ireland.

BTW I did get the confirmation e-mail from the German Amazon and the DVD was much cheaper than what the third party who did not ship to Ireland wanted. The third party from the .co.uk site wanted £24GBP(before carraige) and the German site charged me €20 Euro with a further 7 euro carraige and tax, not bad. The DVD was a blu ray called "Home" by Yann Arthus-Bertrand about planet earth.

I've used amazon.de twice in the past to buy stuff; once from a marketplace seller and the other time from amazon.de directly. Didn't have a problem with it either time. I thought it was odd too that they don't seem to link the various sites, when I was ordering off amazon directly it was for a book that only seems to be on sale in Germany - amazon.com/co.uk didn't direct me to the .de site at all, I just looked on the off chance.

Good to hear that Frank. Also opens up more choice when looking for items online as they also have a French Amazon, might be worth a look. One thing that did surprise me was that my login details(delivery address ect) for the uk site worked fine on the German one.

yep, same here, have used the German one loads of times, both for shipping here to Ireland and to Germany. never had any problems. Amazon is Amazon... :) and they're usually good.
