    Hi.

Im currently working as a manager in a store in Co. Dublin, and its ok, but to be honest, it seems theres no chance of me advancing within the company.

Dont get me wrong, im really happy to have a job at the moment, but I have pushed for promotion, and Ive been told in the nicest possible way that theres a freeze on, and it isnt possible for the foreseeable. I really want to advance for my own sake.

Im looking at available positions, and through my friends I've gotten some awareness of the companies Im interested in working for, but one I like the look of is Meteor.

Has anyone had any experience working for them?
Are they ok to work for, is there any prospect of promotion, and what should I expect if I get called for interview?

Any advice anyone could give me would be appreciated. Trying my best to be prepared, just in case.

(Im sorry if this is in the wrong place)

you are manager, what do you want to move to, chairman, ceo..?

I think if you want to move up to that level you will have to move a bit up the ladder and onto them global multis...

    I should clarify.

Im A manager, in a store with several managers, each have varying degrees of seniority.

I am currently a section manager and there are currently no vacancies in the chain of stores for any 'higher' managerial positions.
Even if there were vacancies in other branches, although the company actively encourages cross-branch application for vacancies, it was a rare occasion in the past when an applicant from Store "a" was successful in gaining a position in store "b".

The "Freeze" I referred to in my first post was related to any of the 8 or so Area & Regional management and support office positions within the company that I have a desire to apply for, but which are not currently being filled because of the current economic downturn. I would of course consider moving from store management to deputy Area or Regional management to be a successful promotion, but as I say, they are not available to us.

This is why I want to move on, not because I wish to immediately be made chairman or CEO. (although CEO would look nice on the CV, I fancy a more modest & realistic initial move, to be honest, but thanks for your input nonetheless. )

So, anyway, if anyone has any information about working for meteor, it would be much appreciated
