Contraception issues / can't be falling pregnant

Long story short - I can't use any form of pill. I've always used in the past, but can't for other health reasons now. I also don't want to fall pregnant as a pregnancy now would not be good for my health, and would be very risky.

So should I be using some form of contraception aswell as himself using condoms? I really can't afford to fall pregnant, and condoms have always worked but are they reliable enough? Yes we're carefull with them and don't do stupid drunk things!! I was told I could get a contraception thing fitted, but I seriously don't want to go there. Hate the thoughts of that.

Was in a similar position to you except that we never use the pill. I found that the medical team that were treating me were very helpful - may be you could contact one of them or your gp? They are normally very understanding in these circumstances - I even got details without asking which was great :D

Condoms are pretty reliable if they're used properly. Nothing is 100%, as you know.

You can track your ovulation using fertility devices which are used by people who WANT to get pregnant. Using it for contraception is essentially the rhythm method advocated by the catholic church. Relying on that alone is pretty dangerous, but in conjunction with condoms would add an extra level of security.

Basically, condoms all the time, and no sex while you're ovulating at all.

There are also Family Planning clinics throughout the country who will be able to give you advice on what your options are.

If it's the hormoan dosage which is a problem a lesser dose might be a possiblity for you like the nuvaring If it's the hormoan dosage which is a problem a lesser dose might be a possiblity for you like the nuvaring.

If not I suggest you do some research on non hormoanal contracpetion if that is the reason you can not go on the oral contraceptive pill.

These would include an iud ( also know as the coil)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrauterine_device and the diaphragm ( which is a barrier method) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diaphragm_(contraceptive).

I suggest you read up on them all and talk to your dr about what options you have.

OP I would recommend what Xiney said.. in particular the Creighton Model

See below for various comparisons etc.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_birth_control_methods#fn_7

As it a 100% natural method with a excellent perfect use rate it could be perfect for your situation, in combination with another form if your health is at risk. If your problem is gynecological then this method may have other benefits relating to your illness. Ask your Doctor, medical team, whatever hospital you attend should have a family planning clinic or advisor.

    Best of luck.
