My confederations cup bet is David Villa top goalscorer at 3/1. I feel there is far more value in this than a Spain win at 7/5.

Spains group is vastly easier than the other group. They will be facing South Africa, New Zealand and Iraq, and I expect them to bang the goals in. Villa's international scoring rate is very good, and in the euro 08 championships showed that he is perhaps the main man for goals ahead of Torres.

I would expect Spain to be reaching double figures in goals before they even reach the semi-finals, and Villa will surely get a few of these. 3/1 seems a decent price to me.

    nice win
now the brazil game looks very interesting
    Game : Brazil v Iraq

    Competition : Confederations Cup 2009

    Venue : Vodacom Park, Bloemfontein

Date : 15 June 2009, Monday, 16.00 South African time.

Defending champions Brazil begin the defence of their Confederations Cup title when they play Hasan Shehata’s Egypt on Monday.

Brazil beat Argentina to win the tournament four years ago, but have been placed in a slightly trickier group this year. It consists of the Selecao, Egypt, world champions Italy and dark horses USA.

No Ronaldinho in the side, but coach Dunga still has a very talented squad with the likes of Robinho, Luis Fabiano, Dani Alves and Kaka in the squad.

Brazil form -last five games- most recent first- scorers in brackets

Brazil 2-1 Paraguay ( Robinho, Nilmar)
Uruguay 0-4 Brazil ( Dani Alves, Luis Fabiano*2, Kaka)
Brazil 3-0 Mexico ( Felipe Melo, Luis Fabiano*2)
Ecuador 1-1 Brazil ( Julio Baptista)
    Brazil 2-0 Italy (Elano, Robinho)

Egypt looked in great shape when they defended their African Cup of nations title, but a lot has changed since that triumph. The core of this side is well into their 30’s, and Hasan Shehata does not have both Amr Zaki and Ahmed Mido in his squad. Zaki misses out due to injury, while Mido has not been called up due to disclipinary problems.

Hosni Abd Rabo, Aboutrika and Mohamed Zidan will be the main threats for Brazil.

Egypt form-last five games- all competitions- Egyptian scorers in brackets

Algeria 3-1 Egypt ( Mohamed Aboutrika)
    Oman 0-1 Egypt (Mohamed Aboutrika)
Egypt 1-1 Zambia ( Amr Zaki)
Egypt 2-2 Ghana ( Mohamed Aboutrika, Emad Moteab)
Egypt 1-0 Kenya ( Ahmed Hassan)

Verdict :- Brazil’s attack looks strong, and the Egyptian defence has looked shaky in recent times. The 3-1 loss to Algeria was not received well at all in Egypt- it is one of their heaviest defeats in recent times. The majority of the Egyptian squad comes from Al Ahly, but the club weren’t successful in last season’s CAF ( African Champions League)

Brazil 2-0 Egypt ( Fabiano, Kaka)

might go for -2 and -1 ht brazil

    italy at 8/13 pp today,
i fancy a tight win.1.0 . brasil at 1/4 is ok if you got a lot of wad to lump it
its hard to call handicap betting in these games... but brasil italy seems a safe double... good luck to all.. .

Hmm, I wouldn't be saying a safe double now. An ageing Italian side playing in that heat wouldn't make me feel confident, though the USA are not in form either, I won't be getting involved in the win market so I hope the double comes in for ya. Unders @ 1.77 may be worth a nibble.

I'd agree, not great matches to be betting on.

Will probably go with both teams to score in the Italy match.

    (-1)first half handicap Spain @ 13/10

ive never gambled that much ever but Spain are in unreal form but im scared Iraq will put 11 men behind the ball
im betting anyway, maybe just put 50 euro on it or somthing

or maybe go for another bet like the -2 full game at 4/7

anyone who got the favourites double yesterday will be off hugging the USA-Italy referee.
    1. Red card for a kick out not matched when Chiellini kicked out for the penalty on Altidore.
    2. No penalty for blatant foul on Donovan by Legrottaglie, basically jumped on his back and then went down like he'd been shot himself.
That would have been 2-2, the last goal just made the scoreline look better.
But then again, this is the same old cynical Italy !!
