Buying Proofide in Dublin?

Anybody know offhand where I can pick up some proofide in Dublin city centre?

I'll have a look around tomorrow, just thought maybe I could save myself some searching. Google's no help.

Maybe it's everywhere, and I've just never noticed in shops as I've never needed it.

To be honest it's unlikely, it is a bit of a speciality item. I would just order it online. If you have just got a Brooks saddle, you can ride it before you proofide it, it won't self-destruct, (your arse on the other hand :)) just avoid rain ideally (although even a few drops there are hardly likely to make much difference.)

I have four Brooks myself, started off taking care of them like children but ended up treating them pretty much like any normal saddle, I have not Proofided in a long time (mean to redo them now that your post has reminded me.)

Okay, cool thanks. I have a new Brooks, I was just wondering whether to go and fit it right now or would it be stupid to do so before proofiding it (it's like having no batteries on Christmas morning).

The rest of the Internet is a lot more precious about it than you.

My chain came off during my first triathlon and I had to flip the bike onto my nice new Swallow to get it back on... I sort of stopped being precious from then on :)

I have since given up triathlon and am road racing and sportiving on a new bike but the same Swallow

It would probably be worth giving Cycleways a call - they usually seem to have a good stock of Brooks saddles so they might have Proofide. You can also use other leather preservatives. I've been using Obernaufs for the last couple of years with no problems.

And Blorg is right - most Brooks will stand up to a fair amount of abuse. The wear and tear just adds character.

I've got proofride from cycleways in the past, they usually have it in stock.

+1 on the wear and tear -I much prefer the slightly scruffy look of my swallow now... still proofride it though :)

Okay, thanks gents, will try Cycleways tomorrow.

Just got the saddle sitting pretty on my dad's old Raleigh Tourer (replacing the plastic "brooks" thing that was coming to pieces the last few months). I feel like I added a few wears and tears just fitting it on.
