    hey people,

Was wondering if there are any SF meds out there? If so could you be so kind to name a few books you have found useful during your second year? Would be much appreciated, books in Hong Kong are way cheaper than in Dublin!

Wait until you've used books for a while before you buy them. That said, there are a couple of books that everyone buys: Talley & O'Connor for clinical examination (the DVD that comes with it is great), and Crossmann & Neary for neuroanatomy. Everyone buys the OHCM too but it won't really be any use till third year, so you might want to hold off in case they bring out a revised edition. I'm still not sure what's best for pharm, I used Rang & Dale (massive) but others used Lippincott (user-friendly). Keep your Netter/Gray's/whatever for anatomy, obviously. Don't spend money on books for neuroscience/biochemistry, use library books. You do not need books for micro/path at all, the slides are more than enough for the exam.

Oh, and get a V-neck white coat, a stethoscope and a Queens Square hammer :D

I bought none of those books... Well I got a secondhand Rang & Dale for a fiver but it got nicked

Library has them all, don't bother collecting books you're not gonna use again... Buy electronics (for me!) instead :p

... oh and enjoy the summer!

    >edit< I would get a lab coat and steth. and a hammer though, theyre totally overpriced in Ireland.
