    Hi,

If anyone has a definitive answer on this i would be very much appreciated.

Basically I am aware that there is an entitlement for some people who work part-time to get some extra dole money if it is justified after a means test. Me and my boyfriend have just moved into a house and i was wondering if i could claim anything as i only work part time, and if so how much? There is a lot of running around and document-getting to be done if i want to apply for this and i'd like to know whether its worth my while.

Im just finished college and work part-time, usually work 3 days a week earning around 350euro (which includes double pay on a Sunday), my boyfriend works full time and earns around 500euro a week and his earnings are taken into account for the means test aswell.

So does anybody know would i be entitled to claim dole on top of my earnings considering we are now renting a house which is costing us 950 a month

    Any input whatsoever is appreciated,
    Thanks

    Hi,

I'm on that allowance, its called something like Casual Work Allowance or something, I know it's Casual anyway. If you work 3 or less days a week you can claim it, it's about 30euro a day for every day you don't work, I work 3 days so I get 3 days paid by Social Welfare (their working week is 6 days), comes to just over 90 euro a week. You just have to go into SW office and apply for it, just tell them you're working part time and they'll help you out.

I don't know if it's means tested if you live with a partner, I don't think it is. They just give you time sheets that your employer fills out and signs every week stating what hours you worked.

If you get it just don't for the love of God send in a time sheet late, they suspend your claim until they have up to date time sheets again, not fun, I just did it this week :(
