Tyre/Tube size query

    Hey there

I've searched for forum for queries like this and found some, but I'm still a bit confused, so thought I'd post myself.

I have 700 x 28c tyres, and I want some tubes with long presta valves.
    On CRC - they only seem to do long valves for the 700 x 18 - 25 tubes and not the 700 x 25 - 32 ones.

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=12507

From googling around I've found these ...
    http://www.evanscycles.com/products/schwalbe/presta-long-valve-inner-tube-700-x-20-28-ec001872

The product title says they are presta long valve 700 x 20/28 but the product information below states 700 x 18/25 presta long valve tube.

So I'm a bit confused, from what I've been reading, I got the assumption those 18/25 tubes would be too small for a 28 tyre?

And what's the story with the tube on the evancycles site, is that an error of some sort or is there a bit of give with the sizes and the 18/25, 20/28 is interchangeable?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Sorry, didn't notice you were looking for long stem. I R bonehead.

These come in 25-32mm, which should suit you about perfectly.

You can get away with running a nominally 18-25mm tube in a 28mm tire, or even larger but the tube will be stretched and the more stretched it is, the more likely it is to puncture when poked by a shard of glass in your tire or whatever.

Plus they come with a snazzy red valve top thingy.

    Ah OK... cheers.

What's the story, is it only 18/25 they do long valves in or something?

Well, long valves are for deep section rims and I imagine that most people who ride deep section rims are not going to be using a tire as wide as 28 so it's going to be a pretty small market for a tube manufacturer.

Perfect for the competitive commuter :pac:
