Chrome Vulnerability?

Was planning on adding Chrome as a browser for Google searches rather than to continue to use IE8 (because the latter is so sluggish since upgrading from IE7). I use FF3.0 as my default, and find it convenient to use a second browser for simultaneous web searches.

Yair Amit recently reported that Chrome, as well as Google Gears, may be vulnerable to cross site scripting attacks, allowing a third party to manipulate the content or behaviour of a web application in a user's browser. So until the patch is available, Chrome does not appear to be worth the risk?

Would Safari be a good alternative to Chrome? Recommendations?

Safari is ok as browsers go, though if security is what you are interested in
    try the lynx browser

The Google "firehose" is on sale to the highest bidder, by auction, to whomever has the deepest pockets. Each copy of Chrome has a serial number. Even if you manually enter an URL like www.gov.ie into Chrome, it calls home to google to squeal on what you are up to.

Safari 4 is a typical Steve Jobs designer look product, like an Apple store - appearances over substance.... put up with it Steve Job's way or go somewhere else. You can't delete cookies automatically when you exit Safari, and it is difficult to tell the level of security on a connection. With Firefox, it is easy to check if a website is using decent encryption (ie a public key of at least 2,048 bits and AES-256). I'd go for www.opera.com as a second browser. Firefox and Opera provides 99.99999999% coverage (much better than IE 8) with privacy and security. Opera is based in Oslo (ie outside the US and EU).
