Just wondering if anyone from the kingdom on here is doing the 100km charity ride tomorrow - from Tralee, castleisland, faranfore, killarney and back to Tralee ? Signon is 10am with the objective to ride at 11am so I heard.

A friend of mine in the area is taking it on and will be his first 100 so thought Id head down to keep him company. Im wondering if it'll be controlled as a single group or will people be able to head off at their own pace ?? If anyones any additional information pass it along please.
    Thanks

A good few of my gang will be there (I'm stuck in Dublin ).

As your friend goes thats a nice easy cycle (not 100km either) with no major climbs.

The details of the route are as follows:

    • Tralee to castleisland is more-a-less dead flat with a nice road surface, there to Faranfore is a bit more rolley and not as nice a surface but fine.
    • There's a small climb out of Faranfore (nothing severe) followed by a drop into Brendans Glen and a bit of road with one or two gentle rises before Killarney.
    • Back to Tralee is good, same road as far as Faranfore as already covered (lovely fast descent into Faranfore BTW) and then you have a soft climb followed by a fast runing bit on some really nice road as far as Ballymac.
    • Now you're on the last run as far as the roundabout at the Earl of Desmond hotel and a gentle run in to Tralee past Ballyseedy and Manor West. Phew!

From what I've heard, they're expecting the whole spectrum of abilities so I would guess that they'll probably mashall it to a slow cruise (<16mph) to keep it bunched and compact as far as Killarney and I would imagine that they might leave the leash off in Killarney and allow a hammer home.

I could be wrong but this would be my best guess.

Thanks for the details and the mapping.
Id know the roads fairly well and its pretty flat spin but its always great to get an idea of the road surface from a local user.
Id hoped to TT it on a new bike but delays in getting it and the proposition of group riding ruled that out weeks ago unfortunately. Im sure my friend will have no problems since he takes in the Conor pass at the start of most of his training rides.
