I think the low opinion you have of yourself will be more of a problem than how you look.

Confidence is attractive. And even the most 'plain' people can become incredibly attractive just by being confident and a fun person to be around.

+1 Most definitely. It's the people who have some kind of 'edge'. A smile, a twinkle in the eye, a contagious laugh, a knack for engaging stories etc. etc. You can see it in any club 'how is that guy with her?' is a very common question. It's because he's confident and has other things than a face!

OP there is someone out there, but first you need to look out for YOU!

Oh my God, what is wrong with you people, you should never call someone ugly based on their looks! If they are really nasty people then fair enough but based on how they look just makes you ugly for saying it!

People generally don't stay with other people based on their looks, there has to be an emotional connection with the other person to make it last.

If you're nervous about meeting people because you're self conscious then maybe you could join a dating site if you're old enough or something along those lines?

If you're still in your teens OP then this anxiety should pass.

A good attitude and friendly personality is always attractive so bear that in mind.

    Good luck :)

beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

I think looks give you information about people. But that's it.. someone can fit into the "beauty" standards for instance, and just have something that puts people off, and there are other people that don't fit into the beauty standards, that may have a "je ne se qua" that makes them look lovely. It could be the way they smile, the way they talk or just confidence..

Build up your confidence, because we always think we are less good looking than we really are. Ah! and burn all those beauty magazines!!!they are full of starving people with LOTTTS of make-up and plastic surgery on :)

Yup i think so, if not how the hell did Mick Jagger sleep with so many beautiful women?!?!?! or Peter Stringfellow for that matter! These guys werent blessed in the looks department but their personality and arrogance etc is what got them the chicks (as well as money of course).

As for normal everyday people being what you define as "ugly" yes i truly believe they do find someone, and they generally are luckier in relationships when they do, as its based on who the person is and nothing superficial as looks.

As for what i think personally, Jack Black is way hotter than Brad Pitt!!

Thanks for taking the time everyone. I was a bit drunk last nught I think & came on here to vent one or two things! I'm much older than a teenager by the way & am the only one amongst my group of friends that is, & has been for ages, still single, so i think that may explain it.
    Thanks again everyone.

It may sound like a total cliche OP but unless you learn to love yourself then you wont find someone who loves you.

During my teen years I was quite concious of how I looked and as a result I missed out on the opportunity of potential partners.

Now Im very happy with myself.Dont get me wrong,Im not going to be on any billboards any time soon but at the same time I dont scare children either. But the key is that the awkwardness that dogged my teens/early 20s has (mostly) evaporated,Im happy in my own skin, warts and all and the same will happen with you. This confidence in people is palpable.

I will give you an example of a friend of mine.We were in college together and he would be considered ugly by some people which annoyed the hell out of me because he was and still is one of the most genuine and soundest people you could ever have the pleasure to meet.He consistently pulled stunning girls and the majority of it was down to him and how he acted and treated people. There wasnt a conceited bone in his body but he exuded a quiet self assurance that females picked up on.

Keep the chin up,you never know what and more importantly who is around the corner.
    :)

You are very honest aren't you :D

Confidence is a really attractive trait.

Few of us look like supermodels, but we all have features that we can learn to make the most of.

And yes, beauty is most definitely in the eye of the beholder!

    Yes,yes I am.;)

OP,like sunflower27 said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and its something you will learn for yourself.

    Good luck to you.
