Pre booking won't really be necessary for the end of June, Perhaps book the first night or two to get a feel for how busy things are. Things usually pick up mid-late July when the UK schools close for summer.
A friend used to follow the tour, he's stock up on food/water and find a mountain spot a few days in advance to get the prime spot.

    Bon Voyage Killalaneer,

you are heading to the most Camper/MH friendly country in Europe. Just watching the family stock-up of the campingcars in LeClerc's or Carrefour supermarkets on a Friday evening is a sight to behold before they head off to their chosen destination for the weekend.
The end of June will not be busy. You will not need to book. The commercial sites can be a bit pricey. Read the notice at the gate regarding the cost of "emplacements", "electrique" and so on and move on to the next site if it all sounds a bit too much. Some of the nicest sites are the simple municipal sites usually found beside a river, lake or sports complex on the outskirts of towns. Great value with free use of the excellant sporting facilities that even the smallest town in France appears able to provide.

Dont forget your hi-vis jackets and warning triangle before you leave. You may be asked to produce them if stopped by the Gendarme. There is good value on them in Lidl this week.

    Enjoy your holiday.

just back ourselves... amazing country for campervans...

If you've got a satnav, check out archies camping europe http://www.archiescampings.eu/eng1/ and download the poi's, you'll have no shortage of places to stop over then... there's also a site where you can download poi's for all the aires.. http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm

Hi France is very camping friendly, why our local councils could not appoint an Aires in most of our towns and villages is beyond me. It would give them much needed revenue and provide a service to us all. Back in France now, and the weather is still very good except for a few dull days at the start of the month. On tour since middle of May and do not want to go home.
